Ice cream has been part of my happiest memories for as long as I can remember—summer days, celebrations, county fairs, and the simple joy of sharing something good with people I love. Old Timey Ice Cream grew from that feeling. What began as a small local dream has become a place for homemade flavors, satisfying food, themed events, and the kind of hospitality that makes people feel known.

Old Timey Ice Cream began in 2020 with a tent and a belief that Elko County deserved treats made with care. Since then, it has grown into a food truck, community events, catering, and a home inside The Horse Palace.
The business has changed, but the purpose has not: welcome people warmly, serve memorable food, and give families another good memory to take home.
The craft
Curiosity became expertise.I did not want to simply sell ice cream. I wanted to understand it—how a recipe balances, why texture changes, what makes a flavor read clearly, and how to create better options for more people.That pursuit has included professional frozen-dessert education, hands-on recipe formulation, industry training, and years of learning from other makers. Every class, conference, test batch, and customer reaction becomes part of the next flavor. Recipes are developed for flavor, texture, balance, and the way they hold up from first scoop to last.
A treat should feel welcoming. One family changed the way I think about a menu. Their child needed a dairy-free option, and I did not have one to offer. I never forgot how that felt. Since then, I have worked to include dairy-free, gluten-free, and dye-free choices whenever I can. Not every option can meet every need, but the effort matters—and so does making people feel considered before they ever reach the window.
