This year's Food Truck Friday series kicked off in Elko on May 17. It was a beautiful day as friends and families gathered for delicious food and drink! The first event of the season was full of firsts! Joining us for the first time this year was Desert Jewel Sourdough, with a collection of beautiful handmade sourdough baguettes and rounds in various flavors. Gracie's Hot Off the Grill was also a first-time attendee, serving up their delicious Hawaiian BBQ. Old Timey Ice Cream launched their new Freezee- Elko's only Italian Ice, available for the first time at the event.
Due to the steady number of attendees throughout the day, Kingdom Grub, Iron Pig BBQ, and Gracie's sold out just before dinnertime. Ruby Mountain Hotdogs, Las Brisas, Botanas El Grillo, and Old Timey Ice Cream also had steady business. The tent and bounce house provided by Event Source were great additions to the event as well. The crowds at this event were spread out through the day, so nobody had to wait in line for long. Numerous people were seen with containers of food piled up in their arms to take back to their offices. All in all, a great time was had by everyone in attendance! Due to some mechanical and health issues, there were fewer trucks than planned, but the Elko food truck owners are a dedicated and determined bunch and won't be slowed down for long!
The next Food Truck Friday is May 24 at The Hub in Spring Creek. With the addition of live music from Cody Wayne and facepainting by Cheeky Doodles, it's sure to be a great time for people of all ages! Follow the Facebook event for a complete roster of attending food trucks.
