Try a Refreshing Sorbet!

When the scorching summer sun has you seeking solace in something cool and refreshing, look no further than sorbet. This delightful frozen treat has been captivating taste buds around the world for centuries. With its vibrant colors, tantalizing flavors, and refreshing texture, sorbet is a perfect dessert or palate cleanser that brings joy to any occasion.

Sorbet is a frozen dessert that has a rich history rooted in ancient civilizations. It originated in Persia, where the locals discovered the art of combining fruit juices with ice to create a refreshing treat. Over time, this culinary delight spread across continents, enchanting Mediterranean cultures and eventually finding its way to Europe and the rest of the world.

Sorbet vs. Ice Cream: What sets sorbet apart from its creamy counterpart, ice cream, is its simplicity. Unlike ice cream, sorbet doesn't contain any dairy products. Instead, it consists of fruit juice or puree, sugar, and water. This combination creates a light and smooth texture, making sorbet an ideal choice for those with lactose intolerance or anyone looking for a dairy-free option. Old Timey Ice Cream is happy to add raspberry sorbet to our current lineup. We understand how difficult it can be to find suitable places to eat when you have a dairy allergy, so we are doing our best to provide options to Elko County families. To ensure your non-dairy family members can enjoy this special treat, we also use separate ice cream scoops and scoop containers to avoid cross-contamination. Sorbet does not hold a tight scoop, so it's only available in a cup. You might also see some other fun creations utilizing sorbet this summer, so stay tuned! Old Timey Ice Cream is the perfect summer destination for your entire family.

This summer, Old Timey Ice Cream can be found at most larger events in Elko County. When we aren't at an event, visit us at The Hub at 232 Spring Creek Parkway in Spring Creek, NV.
